Whenever possible, the DataCodes.INFO Project provides complete information about copyright owners and related matters in the project listings along with accompanying texts. The DataCodes.INFO Project does not charge any fees for accessing the data on this site; however, some of the data may be encumbered with fees or limitations that are payable to the data's owner under certain circumstances. The data's owner, not the DataCodes.INFO Project, grants or denies permission to publish or otherwise distribute its data. It is the end-user's obligation to determine and satisfy copyright or other usage restrictions when publishing or otherwise distributing materials found in the project listings. Transmission or reproduction of protected items beyond that allowed by fair use probably requires the written permission of the copyright owners. Users must make their own assessments of rights in light of their intended use. More information about U.S. copyright law (Title 17 U.S. Code) is provided by the Copyright Office. Other countries have their own policies. The DataCodes.INFO Project leaders want to hear from any copyright owners who are not properly identified on this Web site so that we may make the necessary corrections. Data is marked as follows:
| | Original | All the data was developed for the DataCodes.INFO Project by various contributors. | This data is believed to be original and unencumbered by any outside parties. | | Entrusted | Data was developed by a 3rd-party and entrusted to the DataCodes.INFO Project for dissemination. | The developer of the data has agreed to allow the DataCodes.INFO Project to disseminate the data at no charge to its visitors. There could be some encumbrances for certain usage (like commercial usage), but that will be indicated. | | Orig/Embd | A mixture of original and embedded data. | A large portion of the data was developed for the DataCodes.INFO Project and/or compiled from a variety of public domain sources. It may also contain 3rd-party data that may be encumbered. Import/export tools frequently have this designation. | | Embedded | The majority of data was developed by a 3rd-party, but may contain incidental data developed for the DataCodes.INFO Project to make it easier to use. | Be sure to check for fees and any usage policies the 3rd-party may impose upon their data before using this in your own projects. |

| | Public | Data is freely available in the public domain. | To the best of the DataCodes.INFO Project's knowledge, the data is part of the public domain and may be used freely and without crediting the source, if the source is even known. | | Freeware | Data is copyrighted or otherwise encumbered, but you are allowed to use it as you like and without charge. | If there are any known exceptions to this general statement, they will be noted near the data. | | Open | Open source or similar licensing structure. | Usage of this type of data varies a bit so be sure to read the licensing agreement. Usually there are no restrictions on not-for-profit or personal usage, but commercial usage may have additional restrictions. | | Licensed | Some type of restrictive license agreement encumbers this data. | Some usage of this data is definitely restricted and may require payment. Be sure to read the license agreement carefully. | | Commercial | You can look at it for free, but if you use it, you need to pay for it. | Very little of this type of data appears on the the DataCodes.INFO Project Web site unless the owner has agreed to make the data available free of charge for reference purposes to the DataCodes.INFO Project's users. There may also be a free trial period or limited functionality demo available. |
